This is the house that Jack built celebrating 90 years of Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club

While a local sailing community can be traced further back, the Emsworth Mud Slippers Sailing Club was officially formed in 1921. However it was not until 1963 that the club found a home of its own in the Anchor on South Street. Fourteen years later, the club bought the long derelict Quay Mill, and its members set about building our award winning clubhouse.

In 1987 Pat Heysom developed 'The House that Jack built' theme as a way of recording the emergence of the remarkable clubhouse. Along withthe plaque on the staircase, several 'characters' , animal and human, can be found around the bar, with remarkable likenesses to he legendary 'mill-builders'.

In this 90th Anniversary film Mike Hackman, Commodore in 1977 and current President (2025) recalls the trials and tribulations of some of the most treeasured years in our club's history. As he tells the story to Nisk Pomfret, Mike pays trbute to the outstanding voluntary contributions of so many members, without whom the Slipper club woul not be what it is today.
